From Collaboration to Opportunity
Our Summer Internship Program began with a collaboration between SKETCHURE and New Giza University (NGU), built around a shared commitment to connecting academic learning with real-world industry experience.
Through early communication and coordination with the NGU team, we worked together to create an opportunity for students from the Architecture & Interior Design program to step into a professional design environment, gain practical exposure, and experience the realities of working within the industry.
This collaboration welcomed Logine Ahmed and Salma Mahmoud to SKETCHURE for a month-long internship, where they became part of our team and began their journey of learning, exploring, and creating with us.
Starting Their Journey at SKETCHURE
From their first days at SKETCHURE, Logine and Salma were introduced to our team, culture, and the way we approach design. Their onboarding gave them an introduction to our working environment and the collaborative process behind our projects, while providing their first exposure to real-world design workflows.
Also, Throughout the internship, they had the opportunity to observe how ideas develop within a professional design Company and how different team members contribute to transforming concepts into meaningful spaces.
More than gaining technical knowledge, the experience was about understanding the mindset behind the profession being curious, asking questions, exchanging ideas, and learning through collaboration.
Learning Through Real Projects
A key part of the internship was gaining hands-on experience with the design process through real project work. Throughout their time at SKETCHURE, the interns had the opportunity to work alongside architects, interior designers, the technical office, and project leaders, gaining exposure to the different stages and disciplines involved in delivering a project.
One of the highlights of the experience was taking part in a project from the early design stages. This included developing a mood board and design concept, then translating the initial idea into 3D modeling and design using 3ds Max.
They also gained hands-on experience with Revit technical drawings and 3ds Max from scratch, allowing them to develop both their technical and creative skills.
Working through these stages gave them a clearer understanding of how a design evolves from an initial idea and visual direction to detailed technical work and three-dimensional representation.
More importantly, it gave them the opportunity to learn by doing, while receiving guidance and feedback from experienced members of the SKETCHURE team.
For Logine and Salma, this practical exposure helped bridge the gap between what they learn academically and how design is developed within a professional environment.
Learning from Industry Partners
Learning from industry leaders is an essential part of professional growth. As part of their internship journey, they joined a knowledge-sharing session with the Knauf team alongside the SKETCHURE team.
The session introduced them to Knauf’s latest products and solutions and provided valuable technical insights into modern construction and interior systems.
It was an opportunity to look beyond the design itself and understand how materials, technical solutions, and construction systems contribute to bringing an interior concept to life.
We are grateful to the Knauf team for sharing their expertise and making the session an engaging and informative part of the internship experience.
Beyond the Studio
At SKETCHURE, we believe that professional growth extends beyond technical skills and project work.
Throughout their internship, they also participated in #ThursdaysatZF, a weekly tradition at ZF Holding (the Mather company of SKETCHURE) created to bring teams together beyond their day-to-day work.
These weekly experiences gave them the chance to connect with colleagues from across the organization, experience the culture, and become part of a wider community beyond the design company. From playing and collaborating with the team to sharing informal moments together, these activities allowed them to experience another important part of professional life: teamwork, communication, and building meaningful connections.
Creating and Sharing Together
Their experience also extended into the creative side of communication. During their internship, Salma contributed to creating a day in my life as SKETCHURE intern Instagram Reel, capturing some of the fun and memorable moments from their time with us.
Being involved in the process gave them an opportunity to explore another side of working within a creative company where design, storytelling, content, and communication can come together.
It was also a chance to document their own experience and create something that reflected the people and moments that made their internship memorable.
